This class was intended as an economical light Battleship. The initial call for proposal was for a 300,000 ton Dreadnought, however the fleet admiralty was over ruled by more budget conscious nobles. When they saw that it looked spectacular in the livery of the Domain of Ilelish and that it carried the best weapons and great armor at an affordable price, they were sold. They did overlook the modest acceleration and agility. It has a fully streamlined needle wedge hull for ocean and gas giant refueling, this class is well armored and armed with a great meson spinal mount and one hundred missile bays. Acceleration and agility suffer, and there is room for 360 marines and three cutters. The shipyards that won the contract had an advantage which allowed them to lower the price. These were not "new" ships. It was a refit of a class of TL–14 locally built craft with the maximum level armor for that tech level. When they were refitted, all the weapons, electronics and other components were upgraded. The hull however, was used as is. The first twenty hulls were delivered this way, on time and under budget. Subsequent deliveries took alittle longer as they were brand new keel up. Some of these earlier ships had seen several campaigns, although the majority of the gear is brand new. Assurances were given that extensive use of nuclear dampers have reduced any residual radiation levels to within tolerable levels.
