Jack Personal Armor (Cr50; TL–1) is a natural or synthetic leather jacket or body suit covering the torso and upper arms and legs. [1]

Jack is somewhat better than ordinary clothing or bare skin when defending against blades; it is worthless against guns. [1]

History & Background (Dossier)

As a Proto-Sophont transitions from TL–0 to full sophonce and the full use of tools in the TL:1-3 epoch, leather and hide working are discovered and used to create the first Personal Armors. Higher tech jack armors, sometimes called Leather Armor, often use various leather hardening processes to increase resistance against blades and other melee weapons. [4]
