Kithak does not meet the criteria for any standard classification.
- It is a part of the Sath Exploration program in the Aasa'tha Subsector of Course Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is considered to be a part of the Aasa'tha Cluster.
System Data
Hathisha-Kithak System
The primary is Hathisha, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols, and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) Kithak orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (II) an exotic atmosphere hospitable world, (III) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (IV) a dense icy planetoid belt, (V) a ringed large gas giant, and (VI) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I) Kithak
(I) Kithak is designated the mainworld. It orbits Hathisha at a mean distance of 0.16 AU (23.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 33 days 10 hours: it is tidally locked to Hathisha. The axial tilt is 2 degrees. Kithak has a diameter of 7,898 km, a density of 4.43 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.50 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Hathisha cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.72 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 17% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 23°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the seas work across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 196 million km², Land surface area: 163 million km², Water surface area: 33 million km².
- Kithak is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
Native Lifeforms
Hathisha-Kithak System
Kithak, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
