Indeep is a non-agricultural world.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It has few prospects for economic development.
is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Orphans Subsector of Precipice Sector.

System Data[edit]
Apart from the primary world, there is an asteroid belt at the outer edge of the system. This belt has many small asteroids, and surveys report that twelve are large enough to be considered planetoids. While there are no known current ones, recently there were mining operations on many of the asteroids and planetiods. These ceased afer of the Belt War of 1087.
Mainworld Data[edit]
Indeep has an Excellent Starport with shipyards able of handling Starships up to the Overhaul level, and provides Refined fuel. The main world is roughly 16,000 kilometers in diameter, and is a Large terrestrial. The world is large and massive, with a thin atmosphere which settles to the lowest levels of the terrain. The atmosphere is unbreathable at most altitudes except the very low ones (as in depressions or deep valleys). The surface is roughly 20 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a Dry world world. The main world has a general population of 500,000 local residents, which qualifies it as a Moderate population world. The local government is characterized as Participating Democracy, with government by advice and consent of the citizen. Visitors may find the law moderately restrictive as Shotguns are regulated or restricted by local authorities.
The principal settlement is Green Valley, a city built at the bottom of a rift valley nearly five kilometers deep. Green Valley is 300 meters wide and five kilometers long. The city is built on both banks of the 100-meter-wide river (called simply The River); structures extend up to 30 levels up the nearly vertical canyon walls, and some of the dozen river bridges support further buildings. While there are some small patches of parkland and garden, and every private dwelling has at least a few flowerpots, the city is still mostly functional and industrial in appearance. The valley runs east to west, so sunlight reaches Green Valley for a few hours a day at midday, but the rest of the day is in twilight, and at night only a tiny sliver of stars is visible. Some of the wealthiest citizens have pressurized apartments high up the canyon walls; the sky view isn't much better, but the valley overlook is impressive. The thin air is quite clear due to extremely stringent air pollution laws.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The mining groups in the asteroid belt disputed the premise that Valley Operating Company (Voco), owned all mineral rights as the belt was not part of Indeep. This 'Belt Authority' announced that they had seceded from the world authority and would be directly exporting their ores to purchasers. Voco appealed to the Imperium governers on Palmyra who sent a task force of marines under the leadership of Lord Camron Ternham to deal with the rebellion. Somehow the miners had obtained heavy weaponry but were no match for Lord Ternham's marines.
World starport[edit]
Indeep has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
Indeep Starport is located at the rim of the valley. The atmosphere here is unbreathably thin. Shipments for the surface mining and industrial sites travel by train; connection with the city is by freight elevators plasma-bored through the rock, or by airlraft. The Starport also has the Community Recreation Center, a large clear-domed building available to all citizens. The Center has a swimming pool, a sports field, and the usual recreational facilities, but citizens usually visit just to look at the sky. Because of the nature of the planetary surface, lndeep Port has no Startown. Voco runs the usual shopping and carousing facilities, but these are well maintained and not too rowdy. Most of the Company security police (the "Vocops") are employed keeping order at the Port.
World technology level[edit]
Indeep possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government[edit]
Indeep is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.
The authority onworld is the Valley Operating Company (Voco), which owns all mineral rights and manages ore extraction and processing. It also owns and manages Indeep Starport. All citizens of lndeep own profit shares in Voco, though each citizen has only one political vote regardless of number of shares held (at least, that's the theory). Voco directly employs about one-half the population, and another 30 percent earn their principal living providing it with goods and services.
