I remember while creating the sector name cross reference charts e.g. [[Sectors_A1]], that the Hivers do not have their own "names" for the sectors, rather they use whatever nomenclature that the group that they dealing with. : OK .... so, I have no idea what you're referring to .... I've looked at the list on the link in your entry - I haven't contributed to that list, so I can't vouch for where any of the Hiver sector names came from. The ''only'' Hiver related sector I've had anything to do with here is Spica (cos it's what I know best). But what I ''can'' do is to check CT AM7 for the sector names and double check then reference them in the [[Sectors_A1]] list. Would that be helpful? [[User:Gruffty|Gruffty]] 08:49, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

::So I wasn't coherent. First of all it is not any changes that you made anywhere. If you look at [[Sectors_A1]] you will note that there are columns for Imperial (and being an imperial library that is where the main sectors articles should be stored), Aslan, K'kree, Vargr and Zhodani. Note that Hiver is missing from the list. So when I was first researching the sector names to put into the cross-reference chart, I noted from somewhere that the Hivers do not have their own names for sectors (ignoring the absurd notion that any empire other than possibly the Solomani would use the exact same grid system as the Imperium). So being a self-appointed Hiver expert, I would like you to confirm this and/or discover why there is data on Hiver names for the sectors. [[User:Dcorrin|Dcorrin]] 12:40, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

:::"a self appointed Hiver expert" - thanks Dan, I like that :D "Note that Hiver is missing from the list." - yup. I would prefer not to use the term BFB for every single book in the bibliography. With three exceptions, all of the Traveller books have been paperbacks (T20 book, GT core book, GURPS IW core book). To my mind, the only BFB are the reprint books.

To be techniclly precise we should be using the terms "hardback", "perfect bound softcover" or "saddle-stitched softcover". We also used "digest" to indicate the smaller books.

What it means is that you need to follow the (currently unwritten) rules for inputing the publisher and version of the book. In this case, use the full spelling <nowiki>[[Game Designers Workshop]]</nowiki> and <nowiki>[[Classic Traveller]]</nowiki> respectively. This will fix both problems.

Hiver Sector Naming[edit]

OK .... so, I have no idea what you're referring to .... I've looked at the list on the link in your entry - I haven't contributed to that list, so I can't vouch for where any of the Hiver sector names came from. The only Hiver related sector I've had anything to do with here is Spica (cos it's what I know best). So I wasn't coherent. First of all it is not any changes that you made anywhere. If you look at Sectors_A1 you will note that there are columns for Imperial (and being an imperial library that is where the main sectors articles should be stored), Aslan, K'kree, Vargr and Zhodani. Dcorrin 12:40, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

BFB or Paperback[edit]

I would prefer not to use the term BFB for every single book in the bibliography. With three exceptions, all of the Traveller books have been paperbacks (T20 book, GT core book, GURPS IW core book). To my mind, the only BFB are the reprint books.

To be techniclly precise we should be using the terms "hardback", "perfect bound softcover" or "saddle-stitched softcover". We also used "digest" to indicate the smaller books.

Thank you for that - I can see where you're coming from. My preference then would be to use the technical terms, including "digest". Gruffty 12:04, 27 May 2007 (UTC)

Infobox Books not working correctly[edit]

Your problem with the GDW books and "ass books" categories are due to the categories being automatically included by the Template: InfoboxBook. This was a addition User: Dcorrin made a few days ago to allow creating author's lists of books by category.

What it means is that you need to follow the (currently unwritten) rules for inputing the publisher and version of the book. In this case, use the full spelling [[Game Designers Workshop]] and [[Classic Traveller]] respectively. This will fix both problems.

Dan did this without going through all the entries to fix them properly. We will be finding these little tweaks for a year. Tjoneslo 21:52, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

fixing canon listing: use "canon=yes", not "canonical=yes". Tjoneslo 22:02, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Going though all the entries is a lot of work. I added some additional code a day after to handle some of the common variaitons originally it would only handle [[text]], so I added support for [[text|alt]]. This means the templates such as {{GDW}} should work as well. However they need to all be links, if people think that it is necessary, I can support non reference entries too...
