Ushmegili has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water. The system supports a population of fewer than 10,000 sophonts. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pact Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ushmegili, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Vliin.
Description (Astrography and Planetology)[edit]
Ushmegili is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
Mainworld Data[edit]
This large water world shares many features with Thalassa (Dagudashaag 2127). Lack of available land has restricted the expansion of the starport. The climate of the planet is unkind to Human habitation (average temperature is approximately -37°C, with the equatorial regions a rather pleasant 20-22°C despite the ideal atmosphere.
History and Background[edit]
The resident population is composed of scientists from the Imperial University of Korvell-Medurma planetary physics department and the IISS undertaking a joint investigation into the 'Ushmegli Rings'. These rings are circular depressions in the seabed which have a varying number of concentric, evenly-spaced ridges emanating from the centre of these crater-like depressions. Their age, origin and purpose (if any) remain a mystery.
World Starport (Sp)[edit]
Ushmegili has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Ushmegili has population of 700 sophonts (hundreds).
- This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
World Government (G)[edit]
Ushmegili has no central government or substantial government apparatus; an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
World Law Level (L)[edit]
Ushmegili has a moderate law level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. Light assault weapons, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Technology Level (TL)[edit]
Ushmegili possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
