World Starport

Joyful Noise has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

Joyful Noise has a population of 400,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).

World Government (G)

Joyful Noise is governed by a Participatory Democracy where eligible voters determine laws and policy. What determines an eligible voter varies. There may be smaller councils or regional bodies to draft the policies voted upon. Leadership of the government and all members of the bureaucracy are determined by the voting population.

• The Stormhaven Republic allows each planet to govern itself, so long as the planet is some form of democracy. Each planet elects representatives to the government on Stormhaven, the legislature that handles interplanetary affairs.
