Stave corn is a grain crop native to Stave (Spinward Marches 0710). Stave corn has virtually all of the major nutrients required by most carbon-based lifeforms, and it is raised by the native Obeyery as their main export.

History and background
Stave corn is not like ordinary grain, but is actually a bittersweet legumaceous pod that is usually roasted before processing. It is very popular with human vegetarians, but is more commonly ground up and fermented to create Stave whisky, a very mild yet richly alcoholic beverage.
Travellers' Aid Society Advisory
The Travellers' Aid Society classifies stave corn as non-threatening to most sophonts and makes no special advisory regarding this organism.
