The desert world of Lakuusa is home to seven million sophonts descended from a [[Vilani]] colony that collapsed during the [[Long Night]]. The Lakuusa Planetary Bureaux form a civil service bureaucracy that resembles the old Vilani traditions in little more than name only. There are many areas of Lakuusa that are not inhabited. When combined with Lakuusa’s low level of technology, this makes the planet an ideal location for secret corsair bases and the like, as the locals are unable to effectively patrol and monitor the entire planet. More than once, [[Star Legion]] has been assigned to search out and remove corsair bands operating within this backwater system, but system patrols are otherwise not frequent.

Lakuusa has both an unbreathable thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water, making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Julian Protectorate in the Tsosoe Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Hegemony of Lorean.

Astrography and Planetology

Part of the Kharo Cluster.

Lakuusa has a solitary primary star.
