Zh'a Cha'a are small, generally green lizard-like reptillianoids with sucker feet.
Physiology & Ecology[edit]
First noted by early Vilani explorers, the Zh'a Cha'a emits a mild toxin to ward off predators, which was registered as "mildly toxic" to humans at the time and was promptly forgotten by Imperial bureaucrats until the Zh'a Cha'a was discovered to "dance" to music. The Zh'a Cha'a quickly became a commercial novelty at that point and Zh'a Cha'a pets were widely exported to specialty pet shops across the sector. The Zh'a Cha'a, as it turned out, makes very good aquarium pets.
Zh'a Cha'a prefer swampy, temperate environments, which many low-technology aquariums can effectively replicate.

Diet & Trophics[edit]
Zh'a Cha'a are largely insectivores.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
It was even later discovered (by irresponsible college students) that there were psychotropic effects to the lizard's "mildly toxic" slimy mucus. At that point, the criminal underworld began buying these animals in great quantities. A psychotropic drug could be refined from the enzymes of the Zh'a Cha'a's slimy skin mucus. The street drug became known as "Zhacha."
Sector law enforcement and medical authorities began to study the Zh'a Cha'a in response to the Zh'a Cha'a fad. After several studies, it was conclusively revealed that prolonged ingestion of the Zh'a Cha'a psychotropic agent (slimy mucus) causes severe kidney damage in humans. When this information began to be publicly disseminated , use of the Zh'a Cha'a underground drug began to greatly wane. However, the distribution of the Zh'a Cha'a across the sector had already been accomplished. It and its abandoned brethren can still be found in pet shops, public sewer systems, in the wild, and in widely disparate locations across the sector.
