Xochtil is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Rigel Subsector of Rigel Sector.
  • This world has an exploration base, which is similar to an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling explorer personnel and exploratory starships.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Xochtil has a poor starport without shipyards, can perform major repairs, and provides unrefined fuel. The main world is roughly 13,800 kilometers in diameter, and is a Large terrestrial (e.g. Terra). The atmosphere has a pressure of 0.4 atmospheres, which requires the use of a compressor to ensure sufficient oxygen. Gravity is 0.8G. The surface is over 90 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a Wet world world. The main world has a general population of 200,000 local residents, which qualifies it as a moderate population world. The local government is characterized as Civil Service Bureaucracy, with government by agencies employing individuals selected for their expertise. Visitors may find the law highly restrictive as weapons outside the home are regulated or restricted by local authorities.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Xochtil is a research base and manufacturing facility for the Skania Pact planets. With it's thin atmosphere, it was deemed an ideal planet for many projects. The base itself is partly underground and partly on the surface under domes. The starport contains a manufacturing facility and a microgravity research lab. For manufacturing the effects of microgravity and vacuum enable the research of and production of goods that could otherwise not be manufactured on other planets. These include the growth of protein crystals and manufacture of improved semiconductor wafers.

Description (Fauna and Flora)[edit]

World starport[edit]

Xochtil has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Xochtil possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government[edit]

Xochtil is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
