Description (Specifications)[edit]

Units of thrust are generally measured in the following units:

  • The Newton (N) is the force required to accelerate an object with a mass of 1 kilogram, 1 meter per second, over a period of 1 second.
  • The Kilopond (kp), or kilogram-force (kgf), is the force of weight exerted by a 1.0 kg mass in a 1.0 g gravitational field. It is equal to 1.0 Decanewton (DN) or (daN).
  • The Tonne-force (tf), is the force of weight exerted by a 1000 kg mass in a 1.0 g gravitational field. It is equal to 10.0 kilonewtons (kN).
