The star Theta Cygni is a quaternary star system composed of a white main sequence star of spectral classification F3 orbited by 3 dim, pinkish-white M-class companions.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The Theta Cygni system contains two primary components (Theta Cygni A and Theta Cygni B) associated with two additional M-type stars, GJ 765B and GSC 03564-00642.
- Theta Cygni B, orbits Theta Cygni A at a distance of approximately 46AU.
- Two stars known as Theta Cygni C and Theta Cygni D are mere optical companions of Theta Cygni from the perspective of Terran-sky observers, and are actually not otherwise related to the Theta Cygni system.
- Theta Cygni A is orbited by at least one Jovian-type planet, Theta Cygni b.
- Theta Cygni planetary system:
- COMPANION: Theta Cygni b MASS:~ 2.29 MJ ORBIT: ~ 0.63 AU PERIOD: 154.5 days
The Theta Cygni star system lies approximately 18.3 pc from Terra, and is located in a Corespinward/Spinward direction from Terra at bearing 082.7o Galactic Longitude and +13.8o North Galactic Latitude.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Despite the similarity in name, Theta Cygni A is NOT the primary star of the world Theetasigni/Pact (Dagudashaag 2226). Though it lies at the correct bearing from Terra and has the correct spectral type, Theta Cygni A is located much closer to Terra than the Theetasigni system.
