Notes (2019)[edit]

The canon category ahs been added.

  • It should be added to pages like Fighter now.
  • Later, we can add the size-cat category to include the ACS sequence.

Notes (2018)[edit]

So to show my complete lack of understanding, how do we add more designs to these lists as we build them?

You don't need to do anything. If you write the ship article, making sure to include the Template:InfoboxShip filled correctly, and the Category: Ships in the article. As the discussion above indicates, there are some limitations to the internal processing of the lists, so it doesn't work entirely correctly.
One solution would be to extend the Infobox to generate a category based upon the tdest parameter: Ship type codes. The challenge here is Maksim thinks we ought to update the type codes based upon the codes used in Agent of the Imperium. See the discussion Forum:Agent of the Imperium ship types.
The other solution would be to turn the Infobox into a cargo table, which stores the data internally differently. From your perspective, they're both the same. And I don't have a technical reason to select one over the other.

Whatever makes it happen, AOTI ships classifications can wait.

  • Please let me know how I can help.
  • Thank you, Thomas, for bringing this up. I am not standing in the way in any way.

Most of the high guard ships I have added over the years have an intended user, imperial zhodani, or some pocket empire somewhere that I couldn't resist. As long as the list gets the category correct, gives credit to highguard, and it shows who builds what I think it is all cool.

Notes (2017)[edit]

Due to a limitation of the Dynamic Page List, the list generated from only a partial list of all the ships in the Wiki.

DPL generates the list from Category: Ships, but is limited to 500 pages and there are (as of this writing) 860 ships in the category. The internal query processing uses page_id as the search index, which, effectively, limits the list to the first 500 ships entered in the wiki. To make this list comprehensive, the DPL setup needs to include better limitations.
