Talk:Quar (world)

The Cronor Subsector introduction in the Mongoose Traveller: Spinward Marches states that "Quar is a member of the Imperium" and "Quar is the site of both an Imperial Navy and a Scout Service base."

The T5 Second Survey data for 1105, which should be the period covered by the Mongoose book, list the allegiance as "Imperial Client State" and does not include a scout base.Garnfellow (talk)

This is a problem with the Mongoose Traveller book, and a consistent complaint. Their data is based upon the later 1115 data, but dated to 1105. The difference being the Fifth Frontier War, which changed a number of worlds, especially around the Sword Worlds. Tjoneslo (talk) 23:32, 1 September 2014 (EDT)
Since I've been working with the entries of several worlds that change significantly between 1105 and 1115, and given that the T5SS data has become the "gold standard" for UWP, and given that we're using those neat Traveller Map graphics, I wonder if maybe the wiki should adopt 1105 as the base for entries rather than 1115. Post Fifth Frontier War data could then be called out as is done with Rebellion or New Era information. Garnfellow (talk)
The T5SS data is as of 1065 (the date of publication of the Second Survey). The UWP template includes mark up for that (|u2={{Second Survey UWP}}|zone2={{red|amber|green travel zone}}|pop2={{Second Survey population multiplier}}). We (meaning the previous authors/editors) decided a long time ago to use the 1116 date (see Forum:Proposal for Policy for article time, for one example) because at the time a majority of the available articles (CT, MT, GT, HIWG) were written for that date. I don't think that's right -- I'm pretty sure the T5SS data represents 1105 information ([[1]]). Meaning all of the Traveller Map info is baseline 1105, not 1065. (Well, all the T5 data.) I realize that the in-game Second Survey was 1065, and I think the terminology is terribly confusing. For that matter, there's really not a great mission statement for the whole T5SS anywhere. Let me send a note to Don (leader of the T5SS) and ask. Tjoneslo (talk) 07:42, 3 September 2014 (EDT)
Further Discussion, I've move this here for broader discussions. Tjoneslo (talk) 20:46, 3 September 2014 (EDT)
