Talk:Known Space

There are two reasons I don't like this entry. First, I'd like to limit the number of entries from the still publishing Traveller companies (SJGames, Quiklink, Avenger). Second, and putting my canonista hat on, "Known Space" is a term from Larry Niven. Charted Space is the term used in Traveller Library. So unless you have some strenous objection, I'm going to move/redirect this entry to "Charted" Space. Tjoneslo 16:12, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

I say this and immediately thought Larry Niven as well. a move/redirect to Charted space with a refernce to "known Space" would be good. I don't know why you think that we need to limit articles from active companies? As long as we only give a sampling of the information, (library entries, extracted background), then we should be only helping the companies, while making their information more widely used. I'll just throw in my two cents... The article title came right out of the source quoted; it seemd just a little odd to me. Now I know where I had seen "known space" before. There seem to be quite a few parallels betwenn Niven and Traveller; almost to the point that one seemed to follow the other at one time or another. Sstefan 21 Jul 06

GRRR.... I used the source manual for the article title; I mean it's not my fault if there is a discrepancy with the canon.... if you keep this up, I'll just pack my stuff and go somewhere else...

Actually I probably should have done it myself, but I just didn't think of linking it the other way. As far as packing my stuff (I just finished a few hours ago)..... Sorry. This is one of those Traveller Canon issues. If it's not entirely right within the Traveller canon, it must be wrong. Martin refers to people like me as "canonistias", a terrorist group dedicated to destroying all creativity for Traveller authors. So please don't go anywhere...

I agree with you 100% on the canon issue; I guess that the 1248 sourcebook needed a canonista as editor... I am out of Iraq now, waiting in a hotel in Kuwait fo the travel agent to open so that I can change my reservation to one day earlier...looking forward to getting home. Sstefan 23 Jul 06 10:55 GMT
