Semiplast is a rich, nonindustrial world.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khouth Subsector of Corridor Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • During the Long Night this world was named Samnirk.
  • The world was originally ruled by a colonial administration from Drayne (Corridor 0910) itself, but generally the colonists felt neglected by this arrangement.

Description (Planetology)[edit]

Semiplast has an extreme 72 degree axial tilt.

  • Given its short year, the world has wildly gyrating weather, including massive dust storms during the equinoxes.
  • Extreme conditions of heat and cold, and the thawing and freezing of permafrost distorts that land severely, requiring special construction techniques.
  • This distortion provides easy access to extensive belts of metamorphosized minerals lying within the bedrock, often with as little as some strip mining or a shallow mine shaft.
Semiplast has two stars in the star system.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Because the world had extensive mineral resources, a large population of workers was required in order to work the local mines.

  • The population lives in huge habitats known as Bells, in reference to their shape, which provides optimum safety during the seasonal variances.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Semiplast has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Semiplast has a population of 5,000,000 sophonts (millions).

  • This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Semiplast possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Semiplast has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. This is a colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.

World Law (L)[edit]

Semiplast has a low law level. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate. Portable energy weapons, body pistols, explosives, and poison gas are typically regulated or prohibited.

History-Era: Rebellion[edit]

The Irrgh Manifest took the world with no resistance in 1119, and the occupation administration ruled it in a fashion more benevolent than their colleagues on Pamock (Corridor 0510). Unlike their neighbors, the locals were allowed to keep a significant percentage of their wealth for themselves, and the world was strongly loyal to the Manifest as a result.

History-Era: New Era[edit]

Virus ended this relationship in the late 1130s, and power has shifted back to the self styled "Bell King" who is a direct descendant of the last colonial governor. Like Pamock, direct trade in minerals to Drayne (Corridor 0910) has permitted the purchase of some mercenary groups to deter further vampire attacks, though the high prices charged and boorish behavior of these Hessians have slowly alienated the population against their presence.
