Rede is a hellworld with an inhospitable environment that makes conditions difficult for most sophonts.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations. Those who dwell on such worlds often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Sithula Subsector of Divide Sector.

System Data[edit]

Rede System[edit]

The primary is an unnamed dim red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0025 Sols, a mass of 0.244 Sols, and a diameter of 334,000 km. (I) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (II) Rede, designated the mainworld, (III) a dense stony planetoid belt, (IV) a large gas giant, (V) a ringed large gas giant, (VI) a small gas giant, and (VII) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(II) Rede[edit]

(II) Rede is designated the mainworld. It orbits the primary at a mean distance of 0.38 AU (56.8 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 173 days 5 hours and a rotation period of 36.5 hours. The axial tilt is 21 degrees. Rede has a diameter of 8,621 km, a density of 5.72 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.70 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 3.13 bar and a composition of 93% carbon dioxide (CO2), 5% nitrogen (N2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), methane (CH4), ammonia (NH3), abiotic oxygen (O2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -95°C. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]

Total surface area: 233 million km².

Native Lifeforms[edit]

No world in the Rede system is known to have native life.
