Mainworld Data[edit]
Ranther has a Poor Starport without shipyards, can perform Major repairs, and provides Unrefined fuel. The main world is roughly 9,900 kilometers in diameter, and is a Medium terrestrial. The atmosphere has a pressure of 0.3 atmospheres, which requires the use of a compressor to ensure sufficient oxygen. Gravity is 0.45G. The surface is roughly 85 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a Wet world world. The main world has a general population of 800,000 local residents, which qualifies it as a Moderate population world. The local government is characterized as Impersonal Bureaucracy, with government by agencies which are insulated from the governed. Visitors may find the law highly restrictive as Blade Weapons Controlled are regulated or restricted by local authorities.
The planet Ranther is renowned for two things:
- Its high humidity and...
- Its gigantic trees.
The planet's low gravity and extremely rich soils allow the trees to grow to fantastic size, upwards of 300 meters in height and 20 to 30 meters in diameter. The normal respiration of the trees pours great quantities of moisture into the air, making the climate a veritable hothouse for plants of all sorts.

World starport[edit]
Ranther has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level[edit]
Ranther possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
