History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World Starport (St)[edit]

Ovlathoffos has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)[edit]

Ovlathoffos has population of 800 sophonts (hundreds).

  • This is a Low Population World and the population would be too low to sustain itself without moderate outside assistance. This may represent a large transient population such as the crew of a fleet of starships, the dwindling remnants of a dying colony, a construction team building a new colony, or an outpost that could evolve into a colony.
  • The majority of the population are Krotan.
  • Krotan world statistics represent all adult and mobile Krotan. The "shoals" on a given world will hold around 100 sessile pre-adult, senescent or post-adult Krotan for every active adult.

World Languages[edit]

Krotan communicate through audible shell vibrations. With aliens, the Krotan rely on computerised translators. The planet name is representative of nouns as translated into Humanoid-suitable speech.

  • Krotan is highly efficient, both detailed and terse.

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Ovlathoffos possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Government (G)[edit]

Ovlathoffos is governed by a Corporate Polity, having a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. Essentially, this is a "company town" (or world). The typical corporate-run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families, including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.

World Military[edit]

The Krotan have no dedicated military but maintain something like a militia, where individuals learn basic combat skills should they be necessary to protect their world. Their personal weapon technology is relatively primitive for their Tech Level, because they find heavy weapons to be the most efficient way to deal with opposition.
