History and Background[edit]

The Orchard Commission was the first human interstellar state in the quadrant, established in 452.

The population was largely wiped out during the Era of Horror (869-873 Imperial), with the use of gigaton EMP warheads to destroy all electrical equipment on the world.

  • In 871, the Hegemony Pacification Group Quietus detonated 20 gigaton EMP warheads over the world, and retreated. They licked their wounds, and returned two months later to a world where almost all of the population had died along with the electrical grid. When the Hegemony proclaimed their dominion over the system, the response was only silence.

The Regency of Orchard, the scattered remains of the Orchard nation in the wider system, had no choice but to accept trade links and the economic necessity of being part of the Hegemony.
