The Ogzzarvellronill Cluster is a grouping of systems and worlds located in Knoellighz Sector.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

This cluster of worlds is barely able to trade with each other due to their low to middling Tech Levels. The highest TL of 9 is held by Ogzzarvellronill (Knoellighz 1109) for which the Cluster is named. Two Industrial worlds pay tribute to the "Dripping Fangs" Corsair Band for transport of mined ores and rare earths from two Rich worlds. All the worlds are trying to migrate some of their surplus population to Rraghu (Knoellighz 1209), already a Pre-Hi Population world and the only Garden of the Cluster. Should Rraghu rise to a High and Industrial world, it is hoped that it will turn the interest of the Democracy of Greats in their direction long enough for the cluster to be annexed, ousting their Corsair masters.

  • Three Corsair Bases ensure that the Dripping Fangs stay in shape to 'regulate' the trade in the Cluster. They charge heavily, bordering on extortion, for transport of what goods can be cycled.
  • One Naval Base is nigh-inexplicable -- that of the D-rated Downport on Uego (Knoellighz 0911). The Dripping Fangs suspect that the world has purchased vessels from the Trailing Democracy of Greats or the Zhodani Consulate to Spinward. But as of 1105, Uego has yet to launch its growing and grounded in-system fleet against the local Corsair Base.
  • The Dripping Fangs clash with the Zhodani Consulate whenever scout and survey ships arrive from behind the so-called "Crystal Wall". As of 1105, xenophobia has prevented the Ogzzarvellronill Cluster from seeking Zhodani aid against the Corsair Band and their Bases.
  • Dhurge (Knoellighz 1110) is a low-population, colony outpost owned by Ogzzarvellronill. The Desert world is slated for extensive mining of newfound lanthanum deposits in the deep crust drill sites. Thus far, the Corsairs have yet to catch wind of the find.
  • The Democracy of Greats has their eye on the Ogzzarvellronill Cluster and annexation is still under debate despite the local systems' request for protection from the polity's Navy. The current momentum is Coreward and continues to grow as the implications of the Gateway to Ghoekhnael are realized.
    • By 1116, the Cluster sends tribute to the Spinward border worlds of the Greats in bribes for aid and protection if not annexation.
  • Should the Zhodani Consulate manage to assess the value of the Ogzzarvellronill Cluster before 1116, the expansion of the Crystal Wall might center here first. This is a double-edged sword to the local Vargr trapped on low-to-middle Tech worlds.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Ranging earlier and further than the slow juggernaut Democracy of Greats, the colonists of this cluster of worlds fully expected to someday be annexed by the polity to Trailing. When that did not happen, the "Dripping Fangs" Corsairs became the interstellar, default rulers of the cluster. As Tech Levels declined the cluster became cut off from worlds further than one parsec (Jump-1) distance. Insular behavior bordering xenophobia set in as the Corsairs filled needed gaps to ensure the vitality of their worlds. Without a legitimate government to police the Corsairs, the Dripping Fangs filled the role, though haphazardly. Through protection rackets, extortions and other underhanded fundraising, the Corsairs patrolled their turf with Jump-1 starships, effectively cutting off the Ogzzarvellronill Cluster from other stellar densities and polities.
