Negev has a thin, tainted atmosphere and a complete lack of surface water, making it poorly suited to sophont habitation. The system has a population of hundreds of millions of sophonts. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. The world has a climate with temperatures at the upper range of human endurance. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Kuriishe Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Negev, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdoms of a marquis and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. During the Long Night this world was named Emguu.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

Negev is a member of the Sylean Main.

Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]

Negev is a hot wasteland of shifting dunes, with a native population accustomed to fighting a rearguard action against the ever-advancing desert.

History and Background[edit]

The people have cut their citadels into cliffs and use natural caves to construct dew-traps in order to try and scavenge what moisture is in the air. They grow what food crops they can in greenhouses and sheltered spots, including various desert weeds, which are processed to obtain hallucinogens. Other rare plants they grow provide drugs and medicines, which is the mainstay of the export economy.

Dupusirlu, in the neighbouring system, has an Imperial Monopoly on the export of water to Negev.

World Starport (St)[edit]

Negev has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World Population (P)[edit]

Negev has a population of 400,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Technology Level (T)[edit]

Negev possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government (G)[edit]

Negev is governed by a Charismatic Dictatorship. Charismatic governments justify their ability to rule by simply asserting their right to rule. Charismatic dictatorships are typically young governments, coming as a recent change, and rely on the leader(s) to supply head of government.

The Negev are led by a Prophet, each appointing their successor. They are now ruled by the 15th Prophet. It is written that the First Prophet had true powers of Prophecy, but his successors have relied on mundane means to guide the people.

World Law (L)[edit]

Negev has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
