Khepera is a pre-agricultural, pre-Industrial, moderate population world with over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in population size.

  • Its economy and population are growing and living conditions are expected to slowly improve barring outside forces.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Khepera has a frontier Starport without shipyards or repair facilities, and provides no fuel. The main world is roughly 13,000 kilometers in diameter, and is a Large terrestrial (e.g. Terra). Gravity is 1.0G. The otherwise standard atmosphere (1.0 atm) contains an unusual disease (SPBC) which requires the use of a filter mask. A vaccine is commonly available on the world for this disease. The surface is roughly 45 percent surface water, which qualifies it as a wet world. The main world has a general population of 100 Million local residents, which qualifies it as a Moderate population world. The local government is characterized as Religious Dictatorship, with government by a religious minority which has little regard for the needs of the citizenry. Visitors may find the law highly restrictive as weapons outside the home are regulated or restricted by local authorities.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Although human dominated, the sentient race of Snorks make up 40% of the world population. A Snork is a bipedal mammal resembling a small upright elephant. They are on average two metres tall, have large heads, an approximately one metre trunk in place of a nose, large ears, and are lightly covered in fur. They live in the more jungle areas of the world. Their diet is almost exclusively a fruit called a drooper, which is similar to a banana.
Snorks do not have a very developed voice box, and while they can make noise, they communicate by a complex sign language. A Snork trunk has two large and 8 smaller appendages at it's end, which apart from it's uses for graping and holding, is also the way that their sign language is enacted.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

World starport[edit]

Khepera has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World technology level[edit]

Khepera possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.

World government[edit]

Khepera is governed by a Religious Dictatorship. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy). There is a powerful independent organization, the state religion, which has influence or direct control of the government. Like the bureaucratic governments this may simply be a strong influence with a secular government, have direct influence by controlling who may be in the leadership, or be a direct theocracy where the church leadership and bureaucracy is the government.

World Law Level[edit]

Khepera has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (outside private residences or visiting starships).
