The star Gliese 667 (also known as GJ 667 or 142 G. Scorpii) is a binary pair of yellow-orange stars of spectral type K3 and K5, orbited by a third pinkish-orange "red dwarf" star of spectral classification M1.5.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
- Gliese 667 A has a binary companion Gliese 667 B that have a mutual orbital period of 42.15 years. With an orbital eccentricity of about 0.58, the separation of Gliese 667 A from Gliese 667 B varies between ~5AU and ~20AU.
- Gliese 667 AB is bound gravitationally to Gliese 667 C, and has a mass of about 33 M☉ and a radius of 34 RSol. The minimum separation of Gliese 667 C from Gliese 667 AB is about 230AU.
The Gliese 667 star system lies approximately 7.25pc from Terra, and is located in a Coreward direction from Terra at bearing 351.8o Galactic Longitude and +01.4o North Galactic Latitude.
