The star Phecda (otherwise known as Phecta, Phad, or Gamma Ursae Majoris) is a blue-white main sequence star of spectral type A0 that is part of the Ursae Major Moving Group.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Phecda star system is approximately 25.5pc from Terra, and is located in a Rimspinward/Spinward direction from Terra at bearing 140.8o Galactic Longitude and +61.4o North Galactic Latitude.

  • The Phecda system is located close to the Mizar-Alcor star system, separated by a distance of ~2.62 pc.
  • The star Merak is located close to Phecda and is separated from it by ~3.4 pc.

Phecda is the primary star of the world Phecta/Euxene (Aldebaran 0106).
