Caulins Belt is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and is also a low-population vacuum environment with a population less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Khouth Subsector of Corridor Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.
- During initial surveys this world was named Uundguuk.
Description (Planetology)[edit]
No information yet available.
[edit]
The Imperial Navy acquired Caulin's Belt in 881, and used it as a free fire gunnery and test range.
- Some old ordinance and test facilities may remain.
- The base itself was completely destroyed in the Vampire attack in 1137, and the planetoid it rested on has been severely ravaged, so few secondary facilities may remain either.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
Under the influence of Khouth, Caulins Belt joined the imperium as part of the County of Mikesh in 5.
The belt that Caulins inhabits played out a few centuries ago.
Era: Rebellion[edit]
Caulins Belt is a former Naval Base that was overrun by the Vargr during the initial phase of their invasion. The 1117 data concerning the local population is apparently wrong. Rose Brotherhood operatives discovered in 1165 that the base personnel that survived the initial onslaught were massacred by the corsairs that captured the base, and buried in a mass grave. Virus avenged them two decades later, when an infected light cruiser glassed over the base with its spinal mount, killing several hundred Vargr in the process.
