Woomera was a steadfast Imperial loyalist holdout against the Grand Republic of Warinir during the Twilight Wars. Settled late in the Interstellar Wars period as an advance military and naval base for the Terran Confederation, the people of Woomera were directly opposed to the Vilani-supremecist policies of Warinir. The world suffered for its position; there are still glassy craters visible today, 800 years after the wars.

Woomera has nevertheless prospered as the major industrial world of this region, and has a well-developed network of mining colonies and space habitats throughout its star system, including military facilities. One of the most famous military assets of Woomera is the Blackwolf Brigade, a combined ground/space force of Vargr mercenaries who were brought to the area by the Vilani, then hired away by the Terrans in the closing days of the Nth Interstellar War. The Blackwolf Brigade remains headquartered on Woomera, and while its command staff has sometimes had issues with the Woomeran government over its choices of mercenary contracts, when the chips are down the Blackwolves have always stood by their adopted home.
