Megan Becker had worked behind the scenes in the Governorship of Ivan Becker, as a minor administrator and political researcher. Between 36 and 45 she had been working for the Becker Corporation and had gathered contacts outside the Commonwealth of Touchdown, especially in the Belt and amongst the Captains of the great interstellar ships that acted as trading vessels and stations throughout the system.
When Touchdown sought a new leader with the interests of the state at heart, but with the international connections to navigate the real-politick of the new agreements, Megan Becker became the obvious choice. She declined and had to be coerced into accepting by her uncle.
Megan Becker's period in office was troubled, but with a clear and parochial role, she was able to concentrate on the interests of Touchdown (and especially Touchdown City) keeping the state free of external wars while supporting allies, developing the economy and avoiding catastrophe.

Megan Becker was the niece of Ivan Becker. She established the Becker Family as a careful player in the political games independent of the greatest dynasties.
