Description[edit]
Maskell Tarrier is one of the most controversial of the early Governors and is seen as both hero, villain and martyr. It was under his watch that the new settlement at Prayerhouse was formally established in 25.
Maskell Tarrier held office through a clique that was not averse to the use of coercion to enforce religious and social compliance. It is ironic that it was his own bodyguards that assassinated him for being too liberal and favouring Touchdown City over Prayerhouse.
Legacy[edit]
Maskell Tarrier has come to be seen as a martyr by the people of New Heaven. His open-handed support of their foundation and the attempt at enforcing religious uniformity over the Commonwealth of Touchdown were later seen as heroic actions in the face of adversity with the assassins being vilified, in subsequent centuries, for destroying his vision and ensuring the take-over by the Heretics that followed.
In the Commonwealth of Touchdown, he is seen as a religious totalitarian who attempted to create a universal theocracy when religious views were not uniform. It was under his management that Shelter first appeared (as a safe place for dissidents) and the plans for Santa Maria, Okami, and many other culturally distinct settlements were created.
Family[edit]
Maskell Tarrier was the founder of the Tarrier Dynasty but it was not until his great grandson that the family recovered from Maskell's detrimental influence.
