The star Kochab (otherwise known as Beta Ursae Minoris) is a yellow-orange giant star of spectral type K4.

The Kochab star system lies approximately 40.1pc from Terra, and is located in a Spinward direction from Terra at bearing 112.6o Galactic Longitude and +40.5o North Galactic Latitude.
