Adan is a rich, nonindustrial world.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Dunea Subsector of Core Sector in the Domain of Sylea.
Description[edit]
No information yet available.
Mainworld Topography and Geography[edit]
Adan has a single sea, called the Cleft. It fills a deep horizontal gash near the equator, and is fed by porous aquifers that cycle in nutrient-rich water. The Cleft is host to thousands of microbial species and primordial plant life.
Lifeforms[edit]
Breatheable atmosphere is maintained thanks to the Clench, a huge expanse of adaptive seaweed, coastal ivies, and other plant life that extends thousands of kilometres from the Cleft, into the surrounding deserts. These lifeforms respire oxygen and spread a dusky pollen, adding to the planet's albedo.
History & Background[edit]
Adan's culture nearly died out during the Long Night. The world was recontacted by the Chanestin Kingdom, which provided aid to its struggling population and established colonies on the planet.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Adan has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
- The starport has only six docking bays, four of which can berth a ship of up to 400 tons -- the remaining two are sized for small craft.
World Population (P)[edit]
Adan has a population of 6,000,000 sophonts (millions).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
Urbanization[edit]
Zisduum Nagani is the capital city of Adan, approximately 1,000 kilometres from the starport.
World Technology Level (T)[edit]
Adan possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World Government (G)[edit]
Adan is governed by an Impersonal Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government takes another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy dictates government policy and its execution. Government leadership is reduced to little more than figureheads and does not select the bureaucracy leadership or its members.
- Adan is governed by the Adanian Civilian Administration (ACA).
World Law (L)[edit]
Adan has a moderate level with laws covering many areas of government and interaction. These laws are simple enough that most people can act as their own advocate, though for serious issues a professional is recommended. Law enforcement officials will be present, but not in great numbers. All firearms except shotguns, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.
World Economy[edit]
Mobile platforms carry people harvesting local flora. These platforms -- basically large, flatbed trucks with containers for different crops -- move alongside the Clench at a distance of about 100 metres. The pickers make their way back and forth between the platforms and the Clench. This is inefficient, but necessary due to strict laws that govern how close motorised vehicles may approach the Clench.
