Achille is an icy, low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Old Islands Subsector of Reft Sector.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Most vessels plying between Amondiage and Sansterre go via St Denis, because the port at Achille is so basic. It is little more than a flat area of bedrock. Fuel must be obtained by cracking ice, but doing so close to the settlement (and the port) is forbidden.
History and Background[edit]
Colonized after the introduction of the jump drive into the clusters by a utopian group from Sansterre (Reft 2322), the colony remains although the original fervor has waned. [2]
The locals have little interest in offworld contact and make no effort to either welcome visitors nor to make money off them. It is possible to find somewhere to stay and to buy needed goods, but prices are high.

New Era[edit]
With the arrival of the Regency forces in 1140, Achille was found to be a Cemetery world, with no remaining population. The cause, whether the continued fighting between the Island cluster powers or a Virus attack, remains unknown. The world was renamed Mitchell by the Regency Quarantine Service and serves as one of the their local bases. [3]
