Description (Specifications)
Designed and built in the Ras Tennol (world) system, the Reynolds Meyers Briggs Class Heavy Merchant is a heavy merchant vessel built under license to local companies. It can carry fifty high passengers and fifty middle passengers, as well as forty low berths. The massive four thousand ton cargo bay is the true money maker.
Hull / Engineering
Designed around a 7,000 dTon partially streamlined close structure hull and is is fitted with fuel scoops and onboard fuel purification for wilderness refueling. The class is a long-range design: They carry enough internal fuel for two consecutive jump 1s and have sufficient capacity to run the power plant for 2 weeks. They are capable of 1G constant acceleration and have no agility rating.
- Droptanks: The class is fitted with Droptanks capable of supporting an additional Jump-1 for extended range operations.
Main Section
The design is equipped with an efficient model model/4 computer adjacent to the bridge. The fifty-three crew members include eleven in command functions, five engineers, three gunners, lucky thirteen in the flight department, fourteen overworked in the services and seven security operators. There are 153 staterooms on multiple decks and forty low berths adjacent to the medical center. The crew and passengers enjoy uncrowded single occupancy rooms, with connected suites possible for high passengers travelling together.
The class carries four pinnaces for flexibility in cargo handling and refueling if needed.
Armament
Fitted with a single plasma cannon to “blast space rocks” which pose a navigational menace to the vessel and a single battery of nine triple sand caster turrets to deter hostile fire.
History & Background (Dossier)
It is a popular design used for commercial operations in the wilder, more hostile portions of the Sena Subsector of Halcyon Sector. They frequently serve as merchant transports for large cargoes.
