Lidash League
The Lidash League was a small but important interstellar federation in Deneb Sector, active in the early years of the Third Imperium and notable as the only human colony to survive the Long Night in Deneb.
Goals[edit]
- Prosperity through increased trade.
- Security.
- Endorsement of the Third Imperium.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
The beginnings of the League stretched back to around -2400, when a Vilani clan fled the Rule of Man to settle four systems, including Deneb (Deneb 1925) and Usani (Deneb 2225).
- Three of the four worlds were able to endure through the Long Night after regressing for a considerable period of time.
- The Deneb colony gained jump capability in -80, recontacted the two surviving systems.
- In time four mainworlds formed the Lidash League, led by Deneb.
In 34 the Imperial Interstellar Scout Service contacted the League.
- At the time of contact the League was hard-pressed on every side, surrounded by Vargr states that were raiding the League and each other.
- Their constant warfare kept the League from progressing, since the need for warships for defense was greater than the worlds’ industrial capabilities at the time.
- Through arrangements with the Imperium and three of its megacorporations, a fleet of obsolescent warships were granted to the League, which was able to deal swift, decisive strikes against the Vargr, starting the first push that eventually resulted in a full onslaught that was called the Vargr Campaigns, 150 years later.
- The consequent trade, prosperity and administrative cooperation with the Lidash League resulted in their full acceptance into the Imperium in year 100.
Government & Politics (Leadership)[edit]
A League is a type of Confederation, which is an interstellar political entity with a very loose relationship amongst a number of smaller political units.
- In this case, the Lidash League was little more than an alliance between independent world-states.
The Nenlat natives of Deneb weren't considered full citizens of the League.
Technology & Trade (Economy)[edit]
The average technology level is 8 (...with most between 5 and 10).
Military & Intelligence (Force Projection)[edit]
Non-canon: Historical alliance of four worlds in the 2nd Quadrant of Deneb Sector, with a combined population of almost two billion, contacted in 34 by a Ling-Standard Products trade scout. For over half a century, these worlds had been struggling to work their way back into space, greatly impeded by frequent raids of Vargr corsairs from Corridor and Tuglikki.
A deal was made between the league and three Imperial megacorporations (LSP, Sharurshid, and Zhunastu Industries); in 42, an entire fleet of fully functional, albeit obsolescent, Imperial warships were delivered to the league.
- With these ships, the league was finally able to deal appropriately with the encroaching Vargr.
- The three Imperial megacorporations received a down payment, much of which was spent on buying local assets, and the remainder over a 30-year period.
- In addition, they got a number of trade concessions.
- In the following years the league worlds enjoyed an upsurge in prosperity, and relationships with the Imperium continued to improve until in 100 they joined the Imperium as full members.
