Flexos is a nonindustrial, fluidic hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a client state of the Third Imperium in the District 268 Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector.
  • A significant population of Darrians exists on this world.
  • A significant population of Aslan exists on this world.

History & Background (Dossier)

A non-industrial, non-aligned world located on the Bowman Arm in the District 268 Subsector of the Spinward Marches.

Non-canon: Flexos is a low-population backwater typical of the region. With only 60,000 people in its mid-tech communities, and further handicapped by having to contend with an exotic atmosphere, the world exports little and can afford few imports. Without substantial offworld investment Flexos will probably remain at the subsistence level forever.

Investment in such a marginal world tends to be cheap (though it is often not worth doing anyway). This may be one reason why a variety of survey teams and explorers have recently arrived on Flexos. There are rumors of chemical- extraction processes that may turn Flexos’ fluid oceans into an economic asset, but no hard data is available.

Flexos Army

Flexos has a small permanent military force that is armed with portable energy weapons such as Laser Rifles that have been smuggled in from off-planet since it does not have the technology to build its own. Apart from the Laser Rifles, the arsenal of this army consists mostly of projectile weapons and should be chosen from the Planetary Defense Force (PDF) lists.

There is also a Planetary Militia. All citizens must undertake basic training (usually 1 year) followed by a minimum of two weeks' training each year thereafter. The Planetary Militia are organised the same as the Gaea Prime PDF.

Flexos Police Force

The Police Force on Flexos consists of temporarily serving militia members and is treated exactly as the Planetary Militia, except that, when on patrol, they will carry Pistols and Nightsticks (One-handed Weapon) rather than Assault Rifles. One Shotgun is carried in each Police Cruiser too. Thanks to the off-world smugglers, the police have Comm Links.

Tactical Response Units

The Tactical Response Units are a special branch of the police. They will arrive on the scene with heavy firepower, and should be treated exactly as the Flexos Planetary Militia, with the same range of weapons, although high-explosives will tend not to be used, because of damage to property. Like the police, they have Comm Links.
