CDS-1B 3T Light Amphibious 6x6 Wheeled APC (TECH LEVEL 11)[edit]

Captain Jona designed and ordered these vehicles to be manufactured on Cydia (world). They were built to equip his mechanized infantry platoon, in his commando unit, Jona's Juggernaut of Justice or J3 as it is also known. Intended as a no frills battle taxi, they are very reasonably priced when compared to Grav Vehicles. Lightly armored to resist small arms fire and shell fragments, they are not designed to withstand heavy direct fire. The vehicle is in its third version currently. The CDS-1 model was not sealed, had no overpressure to combat NBC/CBR threats and was not amphibious. They also lacked, even rudimentary night vision equipment, forcing the crews to use googles to see at night. The CDS-1A model addressed most of these concerns but didn't include an auxiliary water propulsion unit, so the vehicles could float but couldn't swim. This series of upgrades increased the price and weight. As a result the power to weight ratio dropped which lowered the top speed. Time will tell if these trade-offs were worth it. They serve as a light Armored Personnel Carrier for 12 passengers and they have a simple TAC missile system built into the chassis deck. Five of these vehicles form a very large platoon of 60 dismounted infantry. The large suspension with its reinforced 6x6 all wheel drive and all wheel steering, enables the vehicle to travel off road at 30% of its road speed. On road surfaces they are fast vehicles because of the compact fusion power plants which contributes 79% of the vehicle's cost. They are sealed with overpressure to protect against NBC/CBR threats. However, the thin armor, an attempt to save weight, is not rated for Protected Forces duty. They carry four crew, a driver/mechanic, gunner, loader and commander. The loader is responsible for reloading the Stalker TAC missile system. The vehicle never becomes stuck in mud, snow, soft earth or sand. One mechanic/technician with a little extra help, tools and access to a workshop can maintain five of these vehicles.

Vehicle Dimensions:[edit]

  • Height: 2m . Width: 3 m. Length: 7 m.
  • Total usable volume: 42 m3
  • Total mass loaded: 24.139178 metric tons. Floats
  • Production Cost: Cr. 252,738.339

  • Movement effect on fire: None.

Armor:[edit]

  • Chassis front 18, chassis sides, rear, belly and deck 10. Crystaliron.
  • Target Size DMs: +2 low, no high hits.

Equipment:[edit]

  • 5,000 power Radio
  • Sealed environment with overpressure for 4 crew and 12 passengers versus NBC/CBR threats;
  • Passive IR and LI for night operations;
  • Auxiliary water propulsion unit.

Power:[edit]

  • A 2-megawatt fusion power plant consumes 3 liters of fuel/ hour
  • Fuel capacity 95.4 liters, enough for 31.8 hours.
  • Power to weight ratio is 82 and ground pressure is 5.36 tons/m2.

Weapons:[edit]

Pintel Mounted Medium Machine Gun[edit]

There is a stabilized belt-fed MMG with a gunshield for the gunner's hatch on the chassis deck. The medium machine gun can each engage 8 targets and has a +2 signature. There is storage for 1,600 rounds, enough for 20 fire phases. The direct fire characteristics are:

Direct Fire Characteristics: Medium Machine Gun
Effective Range Long Range Extreme Range
400m (3) +4 750m (2) +3 1,200m (2) +1

The Stalker TAC Missile System[edit]

There is a 50kg launch tube, configured as a vertical launch silo in the chassis deck. There are no internal guidance packages on board. There are 20 missiles included in the vehicle's purchase price and can easily reloaded by a single crew member. The missiles use a 19cm 5.25kg HEAP 52 warhead and are fitted with homing guidance for fire and forget (FAF) performance. This system is intended for use against armored targets.
