The Edinburgh class light frigates where developed into the later Dunfermline Class Light Frigate.
History
These sleek saucers were effective in their time. Their speed and spinal mounted particle accelerator allowed them to contend with the typical Light Cruisers of their era. When well handled and fought intelligently they often gave a good account of themselves in fleet actions and space battles. However, they were rendered obsolete by more modern designs and they had to be phased out and replaced.
