Revision as of 11:59, 4 October 2018 by Maksim-Smelchak (talk | contribs)
An IR Sensor detects infrared radiation.
- It is a type of Sensor
Description / Specifications
Infrared is a region of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum: infrared waves are longer than those of visible light but shorter than those of radio waves.
- Infrared sensors can be used to detect sources of heat, such as the bodies of sophonts or vehicle power plants.
- Short-range portable or handheld versions are frequently used in engineering applications.
Active IR
An active infrared sensor emits infrared radiation and measures the reflected energy.
- IR Searchlight
Passive IR
A passive infrared sensor measures infrared energy radiating from objects in its field of view.
- HRT (High-Resolution Thermal)
- IR Goggles
- Thermal imaging
History & Background / Dossier
Infrared sensors are available from TL-5 onwards.
IR Sensors correspond to vision:
- Edge of infrared: 750nm (Aglow)
- Near infrared: 820nm (Nearir)
- Infrared: 890nm (Ir)
- Far infrared: 1000nm (Farir)
- Extreme infrared: 2000nm (Xir)
- Beyond extreme infrared: 4000nm (Zir)
