Description / Specifications
A large cargo transport vehicle designed for commercial organisations. It is designed to tow a Box Semitrailer.
Hull / Suspension
A generally box-shaped steel/plastic hull. Length: 6.8m (cabin length 2.4m), Width: 2.4m, Height: 3.4m. Unloaded Weight: 5300 kg.
- External Volume: approximately 55m³ (4 dTons).
- Note that the external volume measures the vehicles maximum dimensions and includes road clearance. The contained volume of the contoured hull (primarily mounted towards the front of the vehicle) is substantially lower.
The vehicle is fitted with wheeled suspension set on axles.
- The vehicle performs well on metalled surfaces but has very limited off-road capability.
Power / Transmission
A medium power plant using hydrocarbon fuel. The fuel is contained within a protected tank.
Performance
- Cruise Speed 70 kph, Top Speed 100. Off-road speed less than 20 kph.
- Range 1800 km at cruise, 1300 km at top speed.
The Tractor Unit connects to a Box Semitrailer. The trailer has a traction pin which fits into a "fifth wheel" coupling on the Tractor.
Passengers / Cargo
An enclosed cabin containing two front seats – an additional passenger can be accommodated on the front seat though such arrangements are cramped. The seating is fitted with safety straps. The driver's position is fitted with basic mechanical controls and a console that provides basic information such as velocity.
Internal cargo storage: 3m³ (given over to a crew bunk). Maximum load: restricted by volume only.
Equipment
Headlights and running lights. Basic environmental controls (the hull is weatherproof but is not sealed). Small (typically 200 km range) radio communicator.
History / Background
A relatively cheap, extremely popular model of light commercial vehicle available in a variety of body styles and colors.
