Jump-2 Barrier

The upper performance limit of DeVoss-type jump drives. It is well-known that the jump-2 barrier can be broken – both the Voyagers and starship misjumps are testament to this – but to date a controlled jump beyond 2 parsecs cannot be initiated. The so-called Langstrom Drive seemed to offer the possibility of breaking the barrier but all research into the design was lost in 3730AD with the arrival of the Voyagers.
