History & Background (Dossier)
This T-Prime/Garden world has been home to a series of genocidal human empires. This world is historically important and has a high population, excellent starport facilities and shipyards. The law level is extremely restrictive, although trade continues to thrive.
The site of a Naval Base this planet is the home world to a minor race of humans called the Yileans who are mentioned in GURPS Traveller: Humaniti, p. 135-142. Their homeworld is Gashikan (Gashikan 2732). They are a subspecies of Homo sapiens, but their taxonomic name has not been mentioned. It has been the site of long standing warfare between humans and Vargr. The planet was subject to nuclear attack -1658. Still subject to Urzaeng raiding.
Today, in the Third Empire of Gashikan, Vargr slavery is still common, especially in the coreward areas and in most of Trenchans sector. On Gashikan itself, Vargr are subject to immediate and summary execution; elsewhere in the rimward sections of the sector, Vargr segregation, serfdom, and peonage are more common than outright Vargr slavery, although the latter is far from unknown.
