Springal (Creature) Synopsis
This creature is an amphibious type, spending most of its time near or in water.
Springal (Creature) Physiology & Ecology
It has a wide, four-legged body, a flat, rather boomerang-looking head, and a long snaky tail. Its front feet are webbed, with four toes each, but the back feet have fins. The creature lays soft, jelly-coated eggs.
Springal (Creature) Diet & Trophics
It prefers seaweed and other underwater plants as a food source although Springals are omnivorous and will eat insects, small mammals, several kinds of fish, and other types of animals when opportune.
The tip of the Spingral's tail excretes digestive juices very slowly, forming a sort of loose blister, which hardens to a bullet filled with digestive juices loosely attached to the tail. The Springal, while on land, will fling these at prey with surprising speed and accuracy, penetrating its target with the acids. The creature dies, and the Springal sucks out the creature's digested innards. Each blister, when completely formed, weighs about 0.25kg. The Springal's mouth is small, with a pair of fangs used to open a creature to reach its digested soft parts.
