Multiple worlds with the same name.

I'm confused. Can you write up a clear description of the rules you are using on the Manual of Style page about how to handle matching world names for worlds in different subsectors/sectors. Tjoneslo 20:52, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

In looking over the list of names for the database that I am building I have noticed that the simple use of the first two letters of the sector (along with the 4 digit location) may confuse the exact spelling of world name (for example “Shela An 0732” could be confused with “Shela An”; if there were a world name of “Shela An”).

So I started to include the parentheses to differentiate between world name and sector abbreviation. I probably made a thoughtless error in trying to fix the Tarsus world entries and will have to re-look those.

Lists of un-entered worlds

I would like to make a suggestions for your lists of all worlds in a sector/subsector. Do not to put the list of worlds in the talk pages. Instead you should put the data into a subpage (e.g. "Sector/World list" or Subsector/World list"). If you'd like I can create a template {{WorldList}} like the Template: Metadata or Template: Secret, which will create the pointer to this list so we know the list exists and can find it. Same World with multiple names

I've noted your adding talk pages about worlds with a second name. If you look at Core Sector/world list I've been going through the Milieu 0 Core sector listing with another analysis page. (see comments for Core sector world list). After looking through a few of the additional pages you posted I've come to the following conclusion.

All of the worlds that have multiple names have been sources from the Travellers' Digest, and your files are probably original source names are the HIWG analysts. It's not surprising that the worlds change names, but we will need to do more analysis to figure out when/where the names were changes (both in the real world and in game time). Sector List

You added Ukan as an alias for Corridor sector, but didn't update the Corridor article nor the Sectors/A1 article... Smililarily Hlaoirloahaurl for Trojan Reach is not updated in Sectors/A4 (but is mentioned in the main article). We need to keep these cross-referenced pages all in agreement. OUCH....trying to keep those columns straight has frustrated me in the past. I'll give it another shot.

The alternate names come right off the sector pages. It took quite a while to build up the database for most things related to worlds/subsectors/sectors...(part of that on-going Astrography project).

I currently have that data in a Excell spreadsheet and am attempting to find a way to cheat the sheet into the wiki grammar and context (see my attempt in the sector list talk page). --Sstefan 21:11, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
