Thanks for all your contributions, particularly the tedious numbering the systems in each sector. Dcorrin 14:20, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
You are welcome, thanks for starting/hosting/managing a Traveller wiki. I didn't have to do a lot of work to figure out the numbers, as Anthony Jackson already did all the work on his site: http://maps.travellercentral.com
Sunbane
This used to be the name of one of my servers, during the time that I was listmom for the TML, I wonder if the name is related. The server served as an FTP site as well, so people would ftp sunbane.engrg.uwo.ca for access to traveller-related data... Dcorrin 12:30, 7 April 2006 (PDT)
- It would not surprise me. I've never been able to find the source of the name from anywhere. Google.... "For many years official data files existed, first on GENII, then on sunbane." I'll add a note to that effect.
Gateway to Destiny
I was fixing the Akeen entry to use the data from the Gateway to destiny book. I realies there is a whole bunch of "canon" data in this book. There are a large group of races, a number of empires discussed, complete writeups on four sectors, and a number of peronalities. Did you want me to go through a dump the library data from this book in to the Wiki?
Similiar question about the GURPS Material. It's a little longer, and will need to be typed (and edited) rather than cut and pasted.
- There are only two questions that really need answering. First we want all the data that we can in the wiki. The questions are 1) is it library type data (self-explanitory) 2) Is the content a significant part of the book. e.g. if the data was transcribed could you forgoe buying the book? - I have a category "complete" for things like 101 Religions, so we can put the reglion name and a quick library like summary, but leave off enough information that one would have to buy the book to make full use of the information. This allows the information to become widespread use, and those that want to make use of it would be encouraged to buy the product.
- We have permission to use the Library Data, and things like the Imperial Encyclopedia for the various versions of traveller, but not for others. So if this supplement has this information as background, and a lot of additional stuff then okay. (The alien races books have a ton of info on the races, we put a page or two worth of information here, the book is still a necessary resource for someone wanting to use the race fully). Dcorrin 18:17, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- OK. I'll post some of the material, keeping the stuff limited to the library data. It will make an interesting addition.
Author Credits
Thomas,
- We should be linking all the authors in the articles (such as TD, JTAS etc), and books so that we can look at the wanted pages to find high article count authors to set up pages for them as time permits. Dcorrin 19:40, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'll do my best to find these sources for the entries for the articles. Most of the TD entries were borrowed from a website which posted only the TD issue, not the individual article. This, like other issues, should be put into a Posting Guidelines page and then linked on the front page. Tjoneslo 19:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Need a little help
Would you take a look at Maneuver Drive for me. I can't seen to get it quite right. Thanks Sstefan
Me too! I can't seem to get Template:NavigationBox and/or Template:ThirdImperiumEmperors to work. There was a few #if in the NavigationBox (which I stole from Wikipedia), but even though we should have a version of Wiki which supports this, I don't think they work. I removed them, but the box doesn't look right still. Dcorrin 20:44, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
- Give me a little time to work through this mess. I'll see if I can help. Wikipedia marks these as "special" so they are more complex than others. Tjoneslo 01:55, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Thomas, it looks good. I have been waiting for the #if to work for some time... My original idea for the LE template was to supply a place for a reference (or list of references), if present then the article would be marked as canon (though some references are non-canon e.g. judges guild), and then a nice format for the reference would be done (A box in the corner say). Of course we needed to get the bibliography completed first.
This is why we have the source in this type of box (blank at start of line)
as it is an item to be worked on site wide. Dcorrin 13:49, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

For My reference.
The Wikia wiki does not support the {{#if:}} because it does not have the Parser Functions extensions enabled. This works in the Wikipedia because they do (along with a number of other extensions). I need to submit a bug report/feature request to the Wikia people via their Bugzilla system. But am currently wating for the login to get in.
- Entered into bugzilla as bug 372

I think that we all should be watching the Talk:Main Page and carrying on most of our site wide discussion there. Comments? Dcorrin 13:28, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Ranking
How did you calculate our ranking? I used the official article count which gave the following the last time I looked:
starwars En 36 enmemoryalpha En 20 uncyclo En 19 muppet En 10 psychology En 8.1 nonsensopedia En 5.1 startrek En 4.3 music En 4.3 genealogy En 4.2 furry En 4.2 dofus En 3.3 yugioh En 3.3 whitewolf En 2.9 creatures En 2.7 concord En 2.5 lotr En 2.2 l5r En 2.1 finalfantasy En 2.1 tardis En 2 traveller En 2 swfanon En 2 althistory En 1.8 pennyarcade En 1.6 transformers En 1.6 hoops En 1.5 stargate En 1.5
Where the numbers are K of articles. Dcorrin 02:48, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- I used this page which gives a sort ranking based upon good articles. Based upon total articles we rank 53rd. I'm not sure where you found these statistics. Tjoneslo 02:55, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- First, I was only counting English-Language sites, and I was not counting the test sites. I used the stats from the "More Statistics" link on our main page. So remvoing StarTrek (De and Nl), scratchpad, trains (french), test601, and test613, that makes us 20th, which is what I was reporting. Dcorrin 13:18, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Ah, the light dawns. You are correct in that case. I'll fix the front page to be 20th. With another 1000 articles we'll be around 12th or so, which I roughly estimate will be the end of the canon material. Tjoneslo 14:05, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Rure Subsector
Thanks for adding the InfoboxSubsector and marking some hyperlinks. I today pasted the world descriptions I wrote into this wikia. And I hope to find some time in the next weeks to fill out the gaps. Any grammar, style or spelling might need improvement, as i'm not a native english speaker. --Kraehe 22:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
I saw that you added UWP template to Gakhamesh (world). Nice ... but there are several worlds, where the UWP template would run into the problem that I distict between meat and awaken in my campain. e.g. Chulesh (world) has 700 awaken controling a class A tech level C startport in addition to 20 million inhabitants living at tech level 7.
Would it be possible to extend the UWP template to cover virus population in addition to humanoid population in TNE ? eg. uv=New Ear Virus population ? --Kraehe 10:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
You are right my Gushemege Mercantile Guild 3rd survey distincs between human and virus population at same TNE time. e.g. Imaparlu has [A2778D] in their trade column. This translates to a class A starport at techlevel D, with 20.000.000 robots. Those robots are calling themself awaken, while others might call them vampire. I currently rewrite the Muecke article, and hope to fill out some more gaps soon. --Kraehe 11:34, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Inconsistant Publish
The Sword of the Knight Publications entry, as a publisher is good, however the published list is a list of the magazine. I think it would be more consistent to just put the three magazines in the body, with the current list being the body for the missing Traveller Chronicle entry. (There are probably many other inconsistencies, but I just noticed this one).
Fleet Tender
See Talk:Fleet tender there needs to be some cleanup and as you were very interested in maintaining correct terminology... Dcorrin 17:48, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
