Shigniid Dia Ugkin, also known by the Anglic translation “Legion of the Frontier,” is what more conventional Solomani military experts might call a combination of special forces and a penal battalion.

"Occupying a unique niche in the Ziru Sirka military, the Shigniid Dia Ugkin (“Legion of the Frontier”) is the wild card in the otherwise predictable Vilani armed forces. Made up of subject-race troopers, malcontents, and outright criminals, the Shigniid Dia Ugkin is a cross between a penal battalion and the French Foreign Legion.
