Dipa is a vacuum world, with no atmosphere or hydrosphere. The system has a population over one billion. This world is designated an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pact Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Dipa, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight (the Imperial representative to the world) and the fiefdom of a count. Both are members of the Imperial Landed Nobility who oversee affairs regarding the world at an Interstellar and Imperial level. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Dipa.
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
Dipa is a member of the Dagudashaag Main.
Stellar Data[edit]
History and Background[edit]
Dipa is one of the main population centres of the Pact Subsector and a major industrial producer.
The planet was initially colonised by religious followers of Father Emmanuel Dipa, a disgruntled Jesuit priest and a founder of the Brethren religion. It still remains a major religious capital today and millions of Brethren pilgrims visit each year. The Brethren religion, while followed by the majority of the population, is easygoing with other faiths and, while under a firm rule of law, personal freedoms are extensive. The faith dictates that charity is of immense importance, especially when directed at those whom the Church has classified as "unfortunate". On Dipa, "unfortunate" generally describes those offworlders, not of Brethren faith, who are not permitted to secure employment but instead are granted support by the state.
The system is closely linked with Medurma (Dagudashaag 2124). During the days of the Medurma Pact, these two worlds formed the core. Even today, they tend to see eye to eye on most interstellar issues though generally for different reasons. This co-operation has increased in recent years and the Brethren beliefs are considered to be a major force for good on Medurman policy.
World Starport (St)[edit]
Dipa has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which features amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World Population (P)[edit]
Dipa has a population of 70,000,000,000 sophonts (tens of billions).
- High Population Worlds like this tend to have huge consumer markets.
Urbanization[edit]
Most of the population are located in two megacities, John-Paul and Messiah, because a considerable amount of the planetary surface is extremely vulnerable to volcanic eruptions.
Timeline[edit]
Events that have affected this world and the surrounding region include the following:
- - 524: Medurma Pact formed by the joint governments of Medurma and Dipa.
- c.- 500: A series of border wars break out between the Medurma Pact and the Ushran Empire.
- c.- 400: Universal Church sends several ecclesiastical fleets to the Zeda Cluster and Shallows Subsector.
- c.- 350: Ushran Hansa as a sector-wide Trade Protectorate formally recorded.
- - 324: Mutual Protection Pact signed between Ushran Empire and Medurma Pact.
- - 302: Medurma Pact starts trading with the Kuriishe Eraki.
