Suakan has a tainted, unbreatheable atmosphere and little available surface water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Arnakhish Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Suakan, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Landed Nobility who acts as an Imperial representative to the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. During the Long Night this world was named Darii.

Astrography and Planetology

Suakan is a member of the Ninlakim Trace.

Suakan is the most rimward of the worlds of the Ninlakim Trace. The atmospheric taint has meant that human life is confined to a series of domed cities along the chain of lakes that dominate the north east face of this world.

Shakuur has a solitary primary star.

History & Background (Dossier)

Suakan has little to offer off-worlders. Barely self-sufficient in minerals and food products, its inhabitants are extremely insular and do not welcome off-worlders.

Beaked Monkeys were accidentally introduced into the local ecology in 105. It was assumed that the creatures would die out very quickly, being exposed to the unusually high oxygen content. In fact the Beakers thrived, carving out a niche for themselves fairly high up local food chains.

World Starport (St)

Suakan has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport. The company Indigo Imports is part owner of the Starport on Suakan.

World Culture

The culture is recognizably Vilani.
