Hope Freeport/Alone (Reft 0134)
See also UWP

Hope Freeport is a remote trading hub in the Reft Sector known for its port area with extremely permissive trading markets and its unique history. It is home to tens of thousands of native sophonts primarily of Humaniti descent.

Description[edit]

Hope Freeport is and anomaly: an asteroid base located in deep space. The native population lives inside the facility and is fairly isolated from the port area. The port is known for its high degree of lawlessness and availability of nearly any commodity or services—with few if any questions asked.

System Data[edit]

Hope Freeport is located in deep space; it is not near any stellar system.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Hope Freeport began its life as the Shining Hope an asteroid-hulled sleeper ship launched by Terra during the Interstellar Wars. Filled with tens of thousands crew in cold sleep, its mission was to start a far-off colony.

Due to system malfunctions, the ship ended its journey not at a habitable planet, but in the empty space of Reft sector.

After a period of struggle, the native population transformed into an independent trading hub, with a starport-like port area and market center. They renamed it Hope Freeport.

World Starport[edit]

The "port town" area contains the starport-like area of the Freeport.

World Technology Level[edit]

No information available.

World Government[edit]

No information available.

World Law Level[edit]

Very permissive product and services offered, often with "no questions asked" by the sellers, buyers, and services. The port area is becoming increasingly lawless.

World Military[edit]

Data about military units is not available. However, the facility itself is well-defended with armaments. Additionally, in its former life as a sleeper ship, it was designed as carrier and still houses a number of jump-capable ships, which themselves are lightly armed.

World Economy[edit]

The primary economic drive of the facility is as a trade hub.

Trade Data[edit]

The facility has several markets, including service offerings such as starship repair facilities. These markets are known for trading in about anything (short of slaves), whether the item or service is legal or not.

World Culture[edit]

The native population is fairly insulated—and deliberately so—from the market activities and lawlessness of the port area. Little is known about the culture of the natives. Due to its origins at Terra, the natives are presumed to be largely of Solomani decent.

UWP Listing[edit]

Due to its unique character, this facility is not described using the UWP.
