Kima is a poor, moderate population non-agricultural and pre-industrial hellworld with a population, over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts, struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.

  • Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often develop intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
  • This world is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It is a world working towards greater industrial capability, but currently lacks an adequate population to expand its industrial sector.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • This world has an Imperial Scout base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.
  • During the Long Night this world was named Meiir.

History & Background (Dossier)

Kima was once a thriving agricultural community. Kima's primary went through a period of increased stellar activity in the 320s, raising the normally cool world to temperatures that led to loss of significant proportions of the atmosphere and surface liquid. Consequently it is a constant struggle to survive on the world. The IISS is now involved in two separate operations on Kima — monitoring the primary's activity and introducing a resettlement program to other worlds.
